I always have my (24k miles) Vette serviced at my local GM dealer, oil etc., well when GM does oil changes air cleaner inspection is included right! I just installed a new air bridge and in doing so the air filter housing poped open exposing the air filter which was filthy. I promptly replaced it and my Vette feels like a new car, idles 150-200 rpm faster and a jump off the get go. I suggest you check your filters and don't depend on your service guy. Easy as pie. Rob

Most of us use the same service guy....the owner.

That's another reason to stay away from dealerships.

Did you check with the dealer and make sure they include a check of the air filter - maybe they don't do it there. In any case, I agree with the others - that's a good enough reason to do the work yourself if you can.

Yes, they have a check list included with everything from tire pressure to powersteering level and top-up, there is a entry for air filter check..so I took it at their advice it was fine, I am thinking because of the low mileage they skipped it, I was surprised and had a thread posted last year asking why my car was ideling so low ~650 RPM, now I know why. I will double check everything after next oil change. (If you bring you own oil and filter cost is $25- for oil change, will not do it myself for that and what to do with old oil filter etc.?) Greetings, Rob

I'm a little surprised changing air filter would affect idle speed. Thought that was controlled by PCM.
