Haha, I guess I derailed my own thread by stirring the pot about which way looked better. Wasn't just trying to start an argument, just trying to get opinions on whether people thought my paint was likely to be faded or marked. Thanks for all the responses guys!
yeah man. You really lit a match on this one. I'm gonna have to call out the Moderators.
When I started shopping for my C5 my list started with mileage, color, price and options. Body side moldings were never part of the equation. That is until I bought it and started comparing my car with other C5's. Two things missing were the BSM and red brake calipers. Could it be a carryover from my mud flap and spinner hubcap days because I don't want to take anything off?
I've had them on for over a year, and it kept bugging me. They always stood out and kept me looking at the BSM's instead of the car. It gave the car a shorter appearance too.
Anyway I couldn't take it any longer...I took them off today.

Wow your vette looks real clean. I love the set up you have.
I just took mine off today. I'm not sure how I feel about it, I kind of feel like there is something missing now. Might just be that I'm not used to the look. Hopefully I won't regret this one.
Definitely parking in the back of the parking lot every time I go anywhere now that I have no protection from idiots and teenage girl drivers in SUVs

So I finally took them off, but I'm having a hell of a time removing the thin glue lines. Any tips? Tried goo-gone, clay bar, scratch-x, some other cleaner... it just doesn't want to come off! It's definitely glue though since I can remove it with my fingernail, but I don't want to be sitting there scratching a new line in my car to remove the glue
The biggest issue with removing them is if the car was ever repaired and painted AROUND the BSM's. A few have removed them to find out the car was painted, the BSM's were masked off and then the have a crater where the BSM was. The only fix was to have the panel resprayed.
