I tried search without success - must have been talked about before - anyway - I would like to remove my power ant. On my 01 C5 convertible & install a fix 8 or 10" black shorty ant. Is there a kit out there I found a couple for the C6 but haven't found anything for the C5?
Why not just run it down and unplug the power connector. It will still pick up, probably as good as the rubber shorty. Then if you change your mind, just plug it back in, or put a switch in line with the power wire so you can choose.

Because I like the looks of the short black antenna - simple as that - I don't want a rubber shorty I want a black steel shorty.
Give a call to Marc and Eddie at Vettenuts.com. Ask if they have a Z06 Antenna base. It will fit a Vert. I was going to go that route but I decided to cut the pink wire that controls the up/down on the antenna and installed a toggle switch. This helps a lot if you have a satilite reciever and use the frequency modulator to connect to you radio. If you leave the antenna down you will never get an outside reception.

When I installed L5 fenders on my vert, I shaved off the power antenna, rear markers and installed a fixed antenna behind the rear bumper. I have noticed no difference in reception.
From: maple grove and North Port fl mn and now florida
melvingregory, where did you get your antenae. I did this with a wire flexible antenae and the reception is ok in the city but is crap on the road. Thanks Rick
I'm a little pissed - Replacing the power ant. With a shorty is a little bit of a hassle- ZO6 base & tall antenna must be bought together - 70 bucks - Shorty antenna to replace the tall antenna 20 bucks - so that’s 90 bucks -
So I ordered a new mast from flea bay for 20 bucks - my old one has a slight bend in it -
So today I go after the famous pink wire - Take out the tail light - Yep there it be - I go up front to the passenger floor board area - Yep - I found it in a maze of other wires -
I made a new wire loom to run to the console - Buy a toggle switch -
I cut the "PINK" wire - Turned the key on - Turned on the radio - Yep my antenna goes up like it digested 2 little blue pills - Turned off radio - Yep antenna went back inside not to appear until it's needed again.
So now I think I’ll just join my PINK wire back together and call it a day, unless someone can tell me what I did wrong?
Thanks - Tom
