Default Just put in LS7 cluth

Hi forum members... I have an 02 zo6 with head and cam package and had the clutch stuck on the floor syndrom whenever I got on it, and was bugging me so i went on the forum and got advice to install LS7 cluth. So i bought an LS7 cluth kit and had it installed and drove it home today. It did not stick on the floor anymore but the clutch catching point is so close to the ground and much harder to push down on. I like the fact that it does not stick to the floor anymore but do not like how the catching point is so close to the ground and is so much stiffer. I like how the stock one felt much better. Smooth and soft. Anyone changed to an LS7 clutch? I d like some feedback on how yours feel and if this is normal. Thank you again.

Please tell me you didn't go wide open throttle with a brand new clutch! You need to follow the proper break-in procedure.

Even though the clutch pedal feel is heavier than stock, I find the LS7 acceptable. It is lighter than my Spec3 was. The disengage/engage point will end up about midway over time.

Sadly I did try wide open throttle a few times on the highway and once from a stop to test it out. I had no ideal... Feel so stupid... How do i break it in properly? Hope I didnt do any big harm to it. Still felt like nothing happen when i got home and parked it. Thank you for your quick response and good to know that it will engage about midway over time.

Did you ever try changing the fluid before the new clutch to fix the sticking to the floor problem?

When you guys installed the LS7 clutches I assume you also did flywheel and pilot bearing because you have to correct? Did either of you also replace the Slave/throw out bearing, or master cylinder? Would replacing these effect the pedal effort and engagement point? I am getting ready to do the clutch in the near future and I am leaning towards this LS7 upgrade. Any advice is awesome.

make sure you replace the master cylinder too. many many people here, myself included have had the clutch to the floor problem and only needed a new master.

It can take up to 1,000 miles for the LS7 clutch to fully break in. I think you'll end up liking it once it is broken in.

What is the "proper" break in period for a LS7 clutch ? I'm soon to be putting in a LS7 clutch with Aluminum flywheel. Trying to reduce unsprung weight where I can...

I stick by the 500 mile period that is used for new Differentials and brakes and is what I did with my new C5 Z06 clutch (warranty work 2 years ago and dealer said LS7 clutch was not an approved GM replacement for my 04 coupe).

Had the sticky pedal syndrome over a year ago, put in a replacement OEM master per suggestion from Mike Yeager and has been problem free since.
