Here I am thinking that I may have been the only one that had the exact same question. Directions really don't say. I sat and stared at those damn things for about an hour trying to determine what the best postioning would be. I eventually installed them on the bottom of the factory, mounted from the bottom or inside while the factory one's were installed onthe car. I also used silicone RTV just in case.

Thanks guys, that's where I had them mounted, but on my first drive I bottomed out (STUPID NYC roads!!!!!!!!!) and pulled the extension off one of the sides.....I guess it's time for some bigger rivets, and some fender washers on the back side......

I used oversize washers too.
