Default I need a stall converter

I'm putting 3.42 gears in my A4 I'm considering putting a stall in it. Thinking about the astro van replacement, the highest I want is 2800rpm nothing real loose, the car is a cruiser not a drag racer. Anyone know of a place to get a one for a good deal on a budget? <$400 I'm looking at around 400hp for awhile and don't mind a rebuilt one. Will a Camaro/firebird 6l80e model fit?

$130 for a rebuilt stocker with a 2800stall. Works for me, thanks!

I hope it is.. its a stocker thats been loosened up. should be the same converter that's in the older 4L60E pickups, it has a 1yr/12k mile warranty.
Will I need a bigger transcooler with that converter?

adding the 2800 stall wouldnt warrant a cooler by itself. only need that if you're really beating on it or if your temps are already above 200 and you're adding more to it. there's plenty of posts here going into that, though.

So what's a safe temp range to run 180-230?

bunch of posts about that here too i try to keep mine under 200 personally. i havent added a trans cooler/fan yet, although i've purchased one.

easiest thing to do for a mild setup that probably suffices (i say PROBABLY) would be a 160 degree thermostat, retune the fans down, add water wetter, and change your trans filter with your maintenance. the tranny is cooled through the main radiator in the car, so lowering those temps lowers the tranny temps.

again, there's a LOT of threads on this.
