Does anyone know where I can find the nylon bumpers for the c5 headlight assembly. There are four per side. Two at the top rear of the mounting bracket and two on the inside of the bracket that stop the actuator arm movement. I have been to chevrolet. They tell me the part # was discontinued in 03, not available except with the entire assembly.

Check with Gene at GM Partshouse (Supporting Vendor )

If he doesn't have them, you might want to check with some salvage Vette shops.
Thanks. I already tries there. Found another thread with the same issue. Apparently they are not available. I was able to locate a couple at a dealer out west who is going to send them to me. Thanks for the reply.
In the interim, you can cut a half inch piece of 3/4 inch rubber gas line hose, put a dab of weatherstripping adhesive inside and push it over the metal tab.

Good idea... another alternative are these flexible plastic end caps you'll find at the hardware store.

Wonder how they discontinued them in '03 when they were still building cars in '04. ?????
As a note... when looking for parts for a '98, '99 etc and you are told the parts are discontinued, ask for the same part for an '04. Very good chance they are the exact same part and they had to manufacture them for a set period (beyond the "98-99).
If the DOWN tabs, tabs that stop the headlight from going down any further (the two more difficult to get to), are worn, does this make the headlight reluctant to coming up?
I have one light that is reluctant to come up, but if I use the manual **** and give the **** a twist or two the headlight pops up on its own.
Rod has them, just ordered 4, Received 4 other ones. Looking for help to install, found three but cant find the 4th, does headlight have to be removed ?
Not sure if this is that helpful, but in addition to the pics in the post there is a link to the parts manual. I looked at it but truth be told the picks may be better to see the bumpers.
Dont have the car anymore but have had the lights in and out a bunch of times. You can take the covers (the body colored panels) off with four screws and there is no chance to screw up the adjustment, they will screw back on and fit as they are now, and you can take the headlight bezel off with two screws. With those pieces off Im pretty sure you can get to all the bumpers.

Yes it will cause your light to not pop up. When the light is in the up position, if you look from the rear of the light down into where the light would rest in the down position you can see the tab the arm rests on when it is in the down position. If the tab is worn out you will see a groove the headlight arm has dug into the plastic bumper. Change the bumper and your light will pop up. I got my bumpers from Ecklers I believe.

I wonder if anyone could make one from metal... after replacing my headlight gears with brass they close really hard and get jammed on the bumper and won't pop up unless I crack them loose by hand then they work fine... I'm really getting tired of having to do that lol
From: Biloxi MS Theres something happenin' here, What it is ain't exactly clear.....
Driver's side started popping back up after turning off the headlights. Ordered a set of 4 bumpers. The top rear pair looked ok but the one underneath near the gear had a notch worn in it. Replaced it and the headlights worked perfect... once. Tried it again and the driver side popped right back up. Pulled its bumper off and it had the same notch cut in it. Something must be in the wrong place below my headlamp cavity.

Maybe even try a short piece of clear vinyl tubing or some rubber tubing that has a hardness Durometer rating greater than regular rubber hose, or maybe polyurethane, etc.
Go to McMaster-Carr and look under "tubing" category or type in "standard rubber hollow tubing" in the search box.
Prices are cheap for 6", 12" pieces of most anything they offer. I would guess the ID to be about 3/8" or 5/16" or so. Measure first.
Replaced left headlight motor instead of just replacing gear. Worked fine for a week / doz or so cycles. Came home from a CORVETTE SHOW that I was in....pulled in the garage & shut lights off (manually set since replacing motor) & the headlight went down & popped back up. Damn....removed headlight lid & notice bumper stop grooved. Will turn bumper over & try this.....To Be Continued. I hope not....
Additional washers installed. Saw where someone placed washers between the headlight motor and the mounting bracket to reposition motor so the stop would be more centered on the bumper. DONE! Maybe...
