A buddy of mine with a C5(1999) was pulling out of the garage this weekend and the steering wheel locked up when he tried to start turning. He got it back in the garage but is now left with a locked steering wheel.
He turned the car off, waited and tried again with no luck.
He spoke to dealer who ran the VIN and determined there was a recall for this condition, which had been performed on the car already.
So...is there anything he can do to either fix the condition or fix it temporarily so he can get it to the dealer without putting it on a flatbed and hauling it in?
I'd never heard of this before, but don't follow the C5 forums. Any and all help is appreciated.
Thanks for the info 8vette7, great stuff. I'm going to have him check battery first--sounds like that is the most likely place to start and rule out. I appreciate the info and will be back if it warrants.
