I used the duplicolor red brushed on paint. I used a steel brush to clean them up. I did about three coats and left the calipes in place. They look great!
Dang I put on like 10 coats almost looks like powder coat
I'll have to check when I get home from work, but I believe Regal Red is the one. There were actually two that were very close, and I brought one of them home, but it was just a tad too "red", so I brought that one back (had to flirt with the counter gal also because I'd opened it...). The second one is an excellent match (say 95%) without mixing. Mike, I thought I was picky....
jb, I'll try to see if I can get some decent pictures, and confirm the name when I get home from work. Either way, mixed or not, you'll be happy with the results.

I'm looking forward to your pics because I also have a Mag Red II and didn't want the brighter red color.

Guys, I apologize for not getting pics up yet. Something unplanned took all of my time this past weekend. If I can get out of work at a reasonable hour today, I will get some tonight and post them.
I used a combination of VHT caliper paint and engine enamel to paint the calipers on my dads 00. I spent two or three days cleaning, prepping and painting the calipers; it would have gone a lot faster if it had not been in the 30's. However he has gotten many compliments on them and one thing the people tend to like is the polished letters on the front calipers. I was going to paint them white but I forgot to buy white paint so I compromised and I think the ended up looking better anyways.
And make sure you clean them up really well if you remove them from the car because paint does not stick if there is brake fluid on there and it is a pain to have to clean them after you have already put a coat on.
I used the G2 caliper paint system. The factory red finish was beat and flaking off everywhere so I wanted to freshen it up. I actually changed from the red to gold and it turned out fairly well. It's a catalyzed 2 part paint system and seems to be extremely durable when fully cured. I'll post a pic later when I get home if anyone would like to see.

A couple pics of the calipers on my Mag Red II Couple
The paint is Rustoleum Door Paint, and the color is Cranberry satin (satin in small letters below Cranberry. I started with Regal Red, and returned it because it was too red when I put it on. This is not high temp. paint, but has held up just fine in the Texas heat...

Sorry, these were huge when I viewed them with the viewer on my PC. I guess either photobucket, or the forum software, resized them!!!
One way you can do it is to have a white base coat and to then put something like chap stick on the letters so the paint wont stick to it. You can also make sure you have a heavy base coat over the letters so that you can file it down after you finish you want to make sure you dont get it too thick though because it will collect up and you the lettering wont be as sharp. Or another option is to file it down afterword and just take it down to bare metal which looks really good imo and I have gotten many complements on it.
