02 Vert with tc/active handling, Installing c6z06 shocks I got from GM partshouse. New front shock does not look like old shock, Pic attached, Old shock (for lack of a better word) has protrusion near bottom of shock with wire attached to it that runs somewhere. I'm lost, Assistance please - Let me know if need more info and I will try to provide, Thx,,
the new shocks aren't "ride adjustable" like the old ones' were - that's all the diff.
Install the new shocks, they fit the same, and I believe on an '02, you can program out the adjustable shock system from the computer. I have C6 shocks/sways on mine, and it's a huge improvement btw...
ok, so that's the ride adjust/sensor, didn't think of that...so just unplug it when i take the shocks off and leave it tied of? No codes later? If so I guess I can figure out how to reprogram

You have the F45 adjustable suspension, as do I. I also have a box of C6Z06 shocks waiting to go on. However if you simply disconnect them, you will get codes - and be limited to 80 mph. To overcome, you have 3 choices.
1 - Find someone with a Tech-II to remove the option ($$ - GM dealers have them, some shops)
2- Buy F45 shock simulators
3- Make your own simulators with 10-watt 10-ohm resistors.
I plan on #3 using the wire harness you are struggling to remove. If you go this route, just snip them close to the shock. There are a couple other threads that discuss this same issue and discuss where to buy the resistors.

I would hope they wouldn't charge much, it only takes a minute. Also remember to take the box out of the trunk before you tune the option out.
