I have a rattle that seems to be comming from the front of the propeller shaft area. I only get this rattle after the car is warmed up not when it is cold. I tried tightening the propeller shaft hub clamp bolt to the correct torque. This had no effect on the rattle.
Has anyone ever had this problem? I could sure use some suggestions.
Not trying to be a smart a$$ but what area are you talking about? I have never seen a propeller on a C5!
PROPELLER SHAFT...recommend you check out the service manual. ALL C5's have one.
@ the op...most common rattles come from the exhaust springs/hangers or even internal baffling of mufflers/cats breaking off over time and rattling around.
Start with the exhaust system with the car running in and out of gear up securely on a 4 post lift.
I have been under the car a couple of times trying to find the noise and it does not seem to be comming from the exhaust. It does sound like the noise you have when your cat converters start to break down. But getting under the car the sound seems to be comming from the front of the propeller shaft. I'm still trying to find out what is causing this sound.
Thanks for the reply.
I'm not sure what the " TT "your talking about is. The rattle I have seems to be coming from where the propeller meets the motor not from the transmission end of the propeller shaft. Sure wish I could figure this out.
