Ok a car backed into me and gashed the nose of the corvette while I was in the mall. Does the process in this article apply to repairing it? I don't wish to claim insurance since it's already high for me. The process looks simple but the taking a heat gun to the vette kinda scares me. Lol I don't have any bodywork experience but I can follow directions. I just wanted to patch and prime it and let the bodyshop respray it. Any advice is truly appreciated.

Don't know about the repair procedure, but it sucks that someone backed into your car. I assume that they did not leave a note or stuck around to claim responsibility. Good luck with the repair.
I would say gashed/torn. It's not huge just right above the license plate hole. Almost looks like a horrible version of a c6 z06 with the small hole on the front nose lol
Ya that's pretty much what the article was about I think. Just part of the process was using a heat gun to bend the urethane back to it's shape. That's kinda vague to me. Any prep work involved before you put heat to it?

I'd pull the cover off the car to repair it, easier to get heat to the back of the panel and when it's painted you'll get a better job off the car.
I would never take any nice sports car to the mall and park among F---ing Morons--take it to a good body shop and get an estimate--you would never be happy with what you want to do--good luck
