I was looking for a titanium welder in phila. PA area.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also looking for a piece of titanium to do the mod.
Thanks
Good frigging luck. I'm 15 minutes south of Philly. I've been looking and looking and looking. The results I've had this far have been this:
1) Absolutely no experience with welding titanium and not comfortable doing it.
2) Has plenty of experience welding titanium, but since no one ever needs it done, they don't have any supplies in stock, making it ridiculous ($400+) to do it since they have to buy all the supplies.
I called every place in a 25 mile radius that I could find. I looked for about two weeks and eventually gave up. Good luck. If you can find a place to do it, do me a favor and send me a PM.

I have called around also, best I could find was a shop in Langhorne.
Same as most guys out there....like 275.00. I have bought some extra Ti exhausts. If some people wouldn't mind an "exchange" process I could do the setup and ship the exchange. Could add some good cost though to do it that way.
Ironic this thread came up, as I just had my TI mod done yesterday - excellent work.
It was done by Quinn, who is located in San Diego. I can pm his contact info if anyone is interested. He charges $200 total and can have it done in two hours tops (he's done about 10-12 now). Not sure how much it is to ship the TIs, but its an option for you guys.

Definitely something to keep in mind for people who really want it done, although for someone like myself the issues are these:
At that price, not including shipping, for another $200 you may as well just get a used Borla or Magnaflow or something.
The other issues is that if you can find a place to do it that already has the stuff in stock, it's only about $120. Plenty of people have had it done for around $120-$140 and being quoted on the high side around $180-$200, through my research here. I personally wouldn't spend more than $150 on getting that done because at that point I'd just bite the bullet and buy an aftermarket exhaust used or something.
But like I said, if someone is really set on doing that, this may be a good option for them.

Yes, except you do forfeit the weight savings of the Ti system by going to aftermarket. Deal breaker some folks...

Agreed, buuuuuuut
That's what straight pipes are for Nice noise, cut down on the weight because there are no mufflers and tons of drone! I mean... drone *IS* a benefit right? Right???

Yea right... Most guys think they want straight pipes until they try running then with LT's, catless X-pipe, and a cam. Then they realize they can't even hear themselves think while driving the car.
Well, people doing it that cheap certainly aren't backpurging and going through that setup, that's for sure. In addition, some areas just may have more Ti welding guys available and thus have driven the price in that area down. In this area, this job is hard to have done. In addition, I don't do enough to justify buying material in larger quantities, which would certainly reduce cost. There are many factors to consider here.

That's my position...the Ti's are worth keeping simply because there are really no cars out there besides the Bugatti Veyron running Ti exhausts. The weight and unique sound are worth keeping in my opinion.

I've got all that now, without the cam and it doesn't bother me too much. I wanted the Ti bypass done for a while, and bought a super cheap set of SLP LM, just to tide me over with some noise until I got the bypass or Corsa. Hated it for the first few days, doesn't bother me now!

While it's entirely possible they may not be backpurging with argon and whatnot, I certainly think that it's more of a case of guys living close to shops that weld titanium all the time, or may even specialize in it. Like you said, no way to justify buying in bulk if you're not going to be able to use it.
