I've been reading the blackwing instruction and I'm confused why I need to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery. It seems like a real easy install with no potential to get a shock or anything like that. I don't want to disconnect the battery and have problems with codes and radio lock ups.
I think that's more of a precaution as you may drop a tool and cause damage if it landed just right on some hot terminals/wires etc. I didn't disconnect mine.

This is usually recommended by most intake and exhaust manufacturers because they believe it will reset the car's computer and allow it to relearn and/or adjust to the changes. It is usually an unnecessary step but it can't hurt.
