Have 35k miles on Kumho tires on stock rims on 2002 A4 Vert. Need new tires and would like to "fill" the wheel well & cut down on the stock 4x4 look. I like the stock wheels on the car (17 front, 18 rear) so instead of buying wheel & tire package, I wonder whether getting a "taller tire"; ie, increasing the sidewall height from the existing OEM front 45 & rear 40 would fill the wheel well and what the consequences would be to the suspension, DIC, computer, etc. Has anybody done this? Any suggestions as to what tire sizes would work?
Also, is it possible to bump out the stock wheels using spacers or whatever to make them more flush with the body panels?
Lastly, if this could all be done, could the car then be lowered on the stock bolts to bring the tires closer to the body panels or am I pushing this too far.
I am a boulevard cruiser, not a racer at 65. Not looking for performance, just aesthetics. All opinions welcome. Thanx so much
