Heading to Bowling Green this weekend. Touring the Assembally Plant on Monday. Anybody have any reccomendations for me if you have been to either? I was there last Sept and went through the Museum. I'll do that again. I had free tickets to the plant then but didn't know you had to book the tours 9 days in advance. I did this time!
we were there twice this year and did not have to book the plant tour in advance.. go into the museum and ask for Roc Linkov, he is the events manager a really nice guy and he'll have answers to alot of questions you may have.

I'd highly recommend you do the plant tour - I've done it many times and seems like you always see something new in the process each time (and not just different cars). Plus you never know, you just might be selected to start a Corvette for the first time.
We did a plant tour on a Monday the 2nd of May there were only about 20 people on the tour, and we forgot to do advance registration. With school out the crowds may be bigger, but I think there are at least two tour times, and the early one is not as crowded. Seems travelin' folks have a hard time getting up. Like the others I've made several tours and always learn something.
Museum is as always great. If one is going on, watch a Museum delivery, not quite as much fun as the R8C, but close to the next best thing.
By all means eat in the cafe in the Museum. YOu never know who you will run into at lunch time.
I had an awesome time! They were in the second week of building the 2012's. My wife complained that I was hurting her fingers because without realizing, I was squeezing her hand while we walked through the plant. I got to see a Red Gran Sport come off the line with the tires squealing. For a Corvette lover (or motorhead of any kind), this is a must do! Between the Factory and the museum across the street, with the large Corvette gift shop, it's a great experience! Bowling Green is a nice place with friendly people. Some great restaurants and bars too!
I HIGHLY recommend it!

Did you stay overnight? If so, where did you stay and how was it? My corvette club is planning a trip for Columbus Day weekend and we need all the info we can get. Thanks JD
We have stayed at the Hampton Inn on Scottville Rd. twice. They are awesome! Hamptons always have comfortable beds and it's fairly cheap at about $110 a night. Free breakfast and internet. It's right off the interstate about 6 miles down from the plant and museum which are also right off the interstate so it's easy to get where your going. The area where the hotel is happens to be the shopping and restaurant area too. If you follow Scottsville road it goes right to the downtown area which is really nice especially in the evening.
Well, what did you think of the drags? We went in '04 and had a great time at the museum, plant, and race track. Were there lots of front engine cars? Did they do a cackle-fest?
Loved the race and the car show that went with it. Great time, something worth checking out. But I am a little biased to the corvette and the old front engine cars.
IT's a long story. The storms along with some friends that live in Bowling Green and bad timing meant we missed all of the car show events. We had planned to spend Sunday with the friends. When the storms hit, we called them. Went out for dinner and they suggested a movie. Suddenly the skies cleared and it would have been rude to ditch them. We thought some would roll over to sunday but we were wrong. they must have finished saturday night. We saw a lot of nice cars at the hotel and around town but by the time we got to Beach Bend it was over. Maybe next year...
