With a blown 2001 ZO6 pushing 520 at the rear wheels I'm struggling to locate a suitable clutch to both handle the torque but also be engagement friendly. I've tried SPEC 3 but with poor engagement characteristics for a car princibly street driven.
I've read that puck style clutches are grabbier than full face. I cannot attest to that, 'cause my RPS twin carbon, which is full face, is very difficult to drive smoothly.

Very unusual, my RPS BC2 is very smooth on the street.
To the OP:
We are about the same power and have abused our RPS clutch to no end. This clutch has seen launches over 6000 rpm, shifts over 7000 rpm, put down 60's in the mid 1.3's, and has performed to perfection. IOHO, this is perhaps the best street/strip clutch on the market.
I think clutches react differently on C5Z's versus C6Z's. My buddy has the same spec twin disc as me, and mine is grabby, and took a lot of getting used to. This same clutch in his C6Z is very smooth, and very easy to drive.
fact that 6 puck design clutches are grabbier and not as smooth engaging. Also if you get in traffic and slip the clutch alot they will get glazed and just become less friendly on the street.so what ever you get just go full face. spec 3+ is full face but way over kill. check out act and textralia. Honestly for the power your making imo your best bet is an ls7 clutch. best streetablity and will hold 520rwhp no prob. + you can pick up for pretty cheap

If you are going to drive it on the street stay away from puck clutches.
I absolutely hated the spec 3 in my supercharged C5. I switched to the Spec 3+ and loved it. That clutch felt like stock but took all the abuse of daily driving and tracking I could give it. When my Z06 is due for a clutch(coming soon), I"ll be buying a Spec 3+ again. Its overkill for my current 417rw, but the clutch had such good manners that its a no brainer for me. And if I ever add Nitrous or Boost I'll be good to go
I'd say that 520 RWHP is past the limit of an LS7 clutch. It may last, it may not, seeing that stock LS7s have been known to have the "clutch pedal stuck to the floor" syndrome, and they have~450 RWHP. And it weighs a ton.

weird i guess its jus hit or miss. ls7 clutch in mine at 706rwhp, beat the **** out of it, jus started slipping. Alot also has to do with how you drive and if your launching/draging the car. . . im going with either mcloud rxt or act twin. Guna do the same time with ysi n fuel system

My ACT lasted about 4-5k and 2 track passes. My Mcleod is light years better.
