First of all what are you selling? You say you have always had 60' & 70's Are these Corvette's? A C5 is a great car and fun to drive. Also they can be worked on.

I would recommend test driving a few C5's before deciding anything.

That said, I love mine and I've owned a C3, C4 and C5's.

If you can keep the C2 or C3 in the garage and buy a C5. That's if you have the $$ to do so. I don't miss my C3 when I'm driving the C5. But I do miss owning a nice C3. Someday I'll buy another. However I can't see selling the C5 for an older vette. I would for a newer Z06.

I love my c5 but would not sell my c3 to get a c5. C5's are a fun car but the value of them will continue to drop for at least a few more years, were as your c3 should start to go up in value as it gets older. If you can manage it just keep the c3 and add a c5 to the stable.

The C5 will out corner any of you classics and will get better gas mileage as well, they are fun to drive and you don't have to upgrade it to be a preformance car but they always room for improvement and with the Z06 that weighns in at 3118 lb they will launch like a beast. I would say they are pure therapy to drive like Jay Leno even said and you know that he knows cars.

I currently have a C2 and a C5, and have had a couple of everything in between. They just keep getting better and better from my perspective. I'm kind of doing what many here have advised; holding on to the C2 and driving the C5. The C2 seldom gets outside the garage anymore because the C5 is such a pleasure to drive. I'd probably be looking to sell the C2 at this point, but prices are so depressed that I'm content to sit on it for a while. If you can't have both, i think you owe it to yourself to look at a C5.

I had a 72 small block that was a money pit. They are a cool looking car and values are going up but they are slow, corner like crap and nickel and dime you to death. If you're looking for a better driving experience and a much, much better car then the C5 is a great option.

My ONLY regret about buying my C5 is that I didn't do it sooner. I absolutely love this thing. But I wasn't in the situation of picking one between having two entirely different vehicles. Tough choics for you. I don't think you can go wrong either way. Definately pros and cons to both of them. Good luck with your decission.

I've had a C1('56),two C4's('85 and '91) and two C5's('98 and '01). If I had them all back, I would immediately sell four of them and keep one of the C5's.

Oh man, I recently went through the exact same soul searching. I had a '68 Camaro as my latest (and LAST) old-school muscle car. I spent thousands upon thousands of dollars and uncounted hours working on that car. It consumed me (and my wallet too, lol). But I was never really happy with the car. It still rode like crap, handled like crap, stopped like crap, etc. It would fry the tires and it was cool, but everything else about it sucked.

So, I went through the same mental examination you're going through. I decided to sell the Camaro. And man, it turned out to be one of the very best decisions I ever made!

Honestly, I have never (not even for one second) regretted selling the Camaro. As I watched it drive off, I was actually happy and relieved. I got rid of a lot of headaches. That car was nothing but money and repairs. It was awful.

I did some more soul searching and decided on trying to find a good deal on a C5. I was ultra-picky. I wanted low miles and something that needed NOTHING, plus I wanted to get it for a good price. I managed to satisfy all of my criteria and ended up with a low-miles 2004. It has been the best 'sports' car I have ever owned. I clean it and drive it. And it gets as many positive comments as the Camaro.

No more old-school muscle for me. I've had enough of the constant wrenching and the crappy ride.

This:

Replaced this:

I will say that when I owned muscle cars in the 70's and 80's, I had a LOT of fun with them. But the thrill is gone for me. I know the Vette is boring to many, but to me, at this stage of life (I'm an old fart at 60), it's like driving a dream.

If you've got the money, keep the old school cars and get a C5 on the side.

I decided to have both. I love my C5 and it is a wonderful car. If I had to get rid of one it would have to go though. Nothing, absolutely nothing can take the place of a C3 BB convertible. The C5 is faster, all gearing definitely not hp but the C3 is just raw muscle and power.
