Default Windhield question

HEY CF.....I have a WINDHIELD QUESTION for you ok.. is there a differance in the WINDHIELD of a vette with heads up display vs. a non-heads up WINDHIELD?
I hear people mod their vette no-heads up to a heads up.... so do they replace windshield as well??
A glass company claim there is.....what do you guys think?

there is a differance however if you elect to replace a hud with a non hud windshield the display will still be visible just not as vivid

Hello, I live in Elizabethtown, KY where the windshields are made for the Bowling Green plant. The HUD display windsheild are a bit heavier and have a reflective film/mat layered between the glass layers. A non HUD display does not have that reflective material in it. I have a HUD installed in my 98 vert with the orginial glass and a 99 coupe that came with a HUD installed. I can see a difference between the two, but it's not much. The 98 doesn't seem as sharp as the 99 display. It's not enough for me to worry about replacing the windshield.

The price of a Z06 windshield might help you decide if you want one.

isn't that why they make comprehensive insurance?? in the state of florida, as a safety issue, regardless of your comp deductible, there is never a deductible on windshield replacement for a covered peril.

z06 and some convertible windshields and side windows are thinner, saving 5.7lbs in weight
