Im selling my Z06 and i guess im saying ''So long''...
It was a joy to own a Corvette Z06 but i gotta throw in my gloves :(
im gonna go ahead and get me another Camaro before they KILL them...it was my car i have always Loved...so im gonna get another one...YES i know it sounds dumb to step out of a Corvette to a Camaro...but its what i like
You're gonna take a lot of heat for this decision Keith. But I know how you feel. In fact I've ordered a Stage II ZL1. Got the confirmation from Tom Henry yesterday in fact. I still haven't decided if I am going to keep the 02 Z06 or not. Also, I've got an 02, SS, 1LE auto that I want to keep. I really don't know what I'm going to do because I've already got one lift in the garage and two is out of the question. I think.
I know I know...im gonna take some heat on it...but its cool :p:
I recently owned a 1999 Camaro "SS" that i TRUELY LOVED ! and i NEVER had any problems with it. I dont have many problems with my Z06 other than its done used 4 1/2 almost 5 quarts of oil since i have had it. I have owned my Z06 now for 3 months and the oil problem is REDICULOUS...i pay $50k for a car and it does this?...ohh well ..........im Movin on..............and also there was a few other things the car has done since i have had it....''Service Colum Lock'' they had to replace the motor...and also put a new battery in...i swear ...if its not one thing or the other :p:.....im not mad though...i just want me another Camaro before Chevrolet KILLS it.........i MISS my 99 i had :(...it was an Automatic and my best run was 12.9@107mph with Hypertech and exhaust.....hehe i know my Z06 is alot faster then my "SS"...but i wanna grab another Camaro while i can
You must be:crazy:a Camaro for a Corvette Z06?! Sure you'll enjoy the check you receive on the trade but heck, what about when that's gone and you walk into the garage. Anyway, best to you. Don't be a stranger to the Forum.:)
I think you have to have some kind of inner child connection to the Camaro to understand. At any rate, there willl be plenty of new Vettes to chose from when you're ready again.
umm, sorry to have to inform you a 35 anniv SS is no where near 40, fully loaded..its 33k, tops for a non vert, add tax..ect ect maybe your at 35, 36..but 40? your loco if you think its 40 BEFORE tax..
Chris, it doesn't matter........HE will pay MSRP or above.................Go figure......last year for a dead F body, and folks are getting gouged like crazy.......
Any other car, dealer would be begging to get them off the lot......the WORST part, is wait until you TRY to trade one in............it won't be pretty..
Keith, hate to tell you, but the oil usage can be taken care of, if you have a waarany.
The Camaro's, & Firebirds ALSO have the oil issue.............think about it.
Good luck, whatever you decide............
I totally understand.
Sold my Z06 last October after a serious case of Viperitis.
Don't hesitate and don't look back.
Good luck to you and enjoy your F-Body.
Listen... most would consider selling a Z06 due to "viperitis" a bit different than someone, with obvious masochistic tendencies;), trading his Z06 in on a Camaro. Anyone can do as they wish but when you come on the Forum and put something like this out expect to hear some constructive criticism. For those that wish to cheer him on so be it. I like the other 99% would stick with the Z06.
Again, good luck to you Z06 THIS, and don't become a stranger to the Forum!
As the owner of a semi modded 95 Z28 and an 01 Z06, I understand. I'd look for a standard Z28 six speed hardtop which I could purchase for under $20,000. That is a lot of car for the money.
I hold the Corvette too a much higher standard, since it costs $50K. it's a great car, but does suck the oil compared to the Camaro. I have run the hell out of the Z28 on numerous track days over the years and it is relaible as a stone - no extra oil, no differential overheating and failures, just reliable performance.
So, I like the Corvette a lot, but a Z28 is a great car for the money.
Jim, agreed..................
Before I looked at the Z, I looked at , & drove a plain Z28, 6spd, rollup windows!!!!!!!!.
It ran really good........I started out thinking of buying the HTop, and sending it to LPE for the OOOMPAH PAH!!!!!!!........
I would have a 425 + HP car, at a price of under WELL UNDER 30K...........
But, my problem is, I am TOO OLD for a Z, or a T/A....................
I would never have lived the "Mid life Crisis", tag down...........
Also, a customer of mine, had an '01 Z..............I stopped by one day, and was talking to him about it.....and he said "HERE", and threw me the keys........said go give it hades!!!!!!!!........
You know I refused............NOT!!!!!!!!!
Well, to make a long story short.....it had been 25 years, since I had driven ANYTHING remotely close to this car........I was definitely hooked........and had one in the garage by the following weekend.............and, the rest..........is HISTORY.
