In the Idaho Vettnet DIY instructions, it says to jack up both the front and rear of the car, with the rear slightly higher. Why can't I just jack up the front to change the oil, just like I do on all of my other cars?
Please advise and any additional tips are always welcome.

Re: Oil change and jacking question (cj)
Most cars have the drain plug in the rear of the pan. The C5 has the drain plug is in the front of the pan. In order to get all of the oil out the rear needs to be higher than the front.
The rear needs to be a little higher than the front. The oil pan is flat on the bottom, with the drain at the front edge. If you only jack the front up, the pan will slope to the rear, away from the drain, and old oil will be left in the pan. On older sheet-metal pan cars, the drain was more to the rear, so this was not a factor.
I drive the front up on a pair of low profile ramps (3" high)and jack the rear up and put it on stands, with the rear about 3" higher than the front. This gives me room to get to the filter and drain without having to jack both ends.
Get one of those filter wrenches that fits to the filter like a big socket wrench too. Makes removal and re-installation super easy!
