I have the stock C5 shifter and I currently have the Delrin Race Shift **** and I have been thinking of changing. I was thinking about two different types, one is the black ball with the shift pattern on it in white and the other is a Carbon Fiber style shifter handle. Anybody have any experience with either?
2020 Corvette of the Year Finalist (performance mods)
C5 of Year Winner (performance mods) 2019
i had the white cue ball **** from speedinc with a pro 5.0 shifter in my old trans am and liked it... in my c5 i opted for an mgw shifter with c6 ****, no complaints here
99 Vet, I had the same shift **** you have but got rid of it for a MGW gripper **** in satin finish and haven't looked back. (I also have an MGW shifter, which is amazing) http://www.mgwltd.com/corvette_gripper_shift_knob.shtml
I'd think the black ball would get extremely hot if outside for very long in Florida.
I have the Hurst Ball in black. The material it is made of just doesn't retain heat. I've been parked in 100+ temps for hours, and never had a problem with the **** being too hot. Love the look and feel also!
I have a Black 3 1/2" ball with red flames (clear) on it... hooked it up with LED light inside, makes it look like its on fire...hehe. It's not bad for daily driving and show, but i think i will stick with Delrin Race Shift **** for autoXing.
I had a C6Z shifter combo. I kept the ****, but got a MGW shifter. IMO, the best setup available. C5 **** is soooooooooo ugly, but I really like my C6 ****.
I have a leather covered ball from the early 90's Camaro or Firebird. It had to be rethreaded to accept the C5 Hurst shifter but it's just the right size and leather covered.
The problem I had with the Hurst ball was not the heat but the cold. The fake Hurst ***** all retain heat and cold. The true Hurst ***** are usually not affected by temp very much but this last winter it colder than a witch's t1t.
