Repairing Lighter in Dash

Default Repairing Lighter in Dash

My question is simple, how do I get to the lighter (12v power-point) that is next to the ashtray in the dash?

It seems that the retainer has come unscrewed and the outward part has come unplugged and out.

I have been into the gauge cluster to install rings, and it seems to me that once I get the center-stack off I can get to the back of the unit. Is this correct?

I still have my printed VE installation instruction for the rings, just checking with all of you before I begin.

taking off the radio bezel willgive you full access

I take it you are referring to the console and center-stack?

Yup. Four bolts in the center glove box, lift rear and slide it back a bit (dont have to take it out). Which reveals two bolts holding aft portion of center stack bezel, pop out ashtray, one screw there, pop out inside air temp bezel (small square on dash between ignition switch and steering wheel.....dont touch exposed tip of wire there), one screw there....and your good to go

Easy to fix, just did mine. Don't know how it became unscrewed. Was that way when I got the car. I put a little rtv on the threads to help keep it from vibrating apart.
