For those of you who have had a significant amount of "seat time" in both the standard (FRC) buckets and the "sport buckets" found in the higher rent district Corvette models, do you find a great deal of difference between the two? I have only had the standard buckets have never ridden in a car with the upgraded seats.
My experience so far has been quite acceptable. My frist ride in my FRC was 800 miles and I remained comfortable the whole trip and did not find myself squirming to find a better position. The seats in the car seem to be in good shape, no broken down bolsters ect. Just looking at pictures, there doesn't appear to be a lot of difference between the two other than style, but looks can be deceiving. So what's the scoop on these two seats?
I haven't had a lot of time in the standard seats - probably three test drives worth of seat time. It's not a HUGE difference compared to the sport buckets I've got in my C5. The big things are that they don't have nearly as much adjustment capability, the side bolsters on the sport buckets hold you in your seat a little better, and (for me) I can get the seat bottom into a more comfortable position with the sport buckets than the standard seats.
There's not much difference between the two.... That said, when I changed from standard seats to sport seats I did notice that the old foams were in poor condition. The bottom foam on the drivers side was cut by the springs (if you want to call them springs I call them wires) and I only weigh 165 lbs. After replacing the sport foams and recovering with sport skins the seats were much more comfortable.
