The BSMs don't play a role in aerodynamics .. unless you're talking about the aerodynamics of a shopping cart hitting the side of your car in a lot. I removed mine .. like the looks better without. I don't have any pics since I removed them, but you can find lots of examples with/without in sig pics.
Mine came with BSM's. I tried to get used to them... but after about a month, I decided they had to go. Took about two hours to remove them - used fishing line and went real slow. Hands get raw from
rubbing all the GM super sticky tape/goo off afterwards, but they came off and left the paint perfect. I'd advise against pulling them off if they've been on for more than a year though - paint underneath may be brighter... or not separate properly from the tape. I'm much happier with them gone. I like the cleaner line my car now has.
Was a warm day back in Oct. of last year. Used a high grade fishing line, about 30lb test, doubled up. Trick is to go REALLY slow - applying steady, HARD pressure in the same direction that the BSM runs. If cold, forget it - the GM glue/tape will be too hard to work/cut through. Careful spot warming may help. Good luck!
I was reading something on how this one person took his off, he did it when the car was new so you couldnt tell any color differance, and he used a blow dryer and fishing line, and he said it turned out fine!
