Are you talking about the sensor on top of the dash toward the lest side of the defroster grill? If so that's the "sun load sensor" and there would be absolutely no reason for a tech to go anywhere near that or remove that portion of the dash (which is kind of a pita to do) while servicing the column lock recall. Maybe they bumped it and knocked it down inside the dash? Pull off the defroster vent and see if it's down there... Since your headlights are on all the time it would make sense that the sensor is still connected to the harness and in a dark place (inside the dash)

To get your lights to go off cycle through the options menu on the DIC and turn twilight sentinel off... Then you'll be able to control the lights manually from the stalk on the left side of the steering column (unless you have a Canadian spec car)...

Also, the column lock service at the dealer was probably a waste of your time (and money?). The gm recalls do not adequately address this problem. Read the column lock sticky at the top of the c5 tech section...

Good luck

Also... If the car wasn't having this problem before you took it in and the dealership refuses to make something this simple right for you I would strongly recommend that you NEVER take your car back there. I would tell you to take it back and complain until they fixed it, but honestly I wouldn't want them going anywhere near the car... Jmho

That is one looooong sentence. I couldn't maintain a train of thought through it. The forum doesn't charge extra by the sentence or paragraph. I agree turn off the twilight sentinel in the DIC and see if the lights work with the stalk. That will tell you if it is the sensor or not.

Were they working after you took the car back from them and worked for a bit, or

they never worked - always up/on since you got the car back?

How long have you had this vehicle?

With the sun sensor gone yes the twilight sentinel will not work.

As stated previously, turn OFF the feature from the DIC. Then with the stalk **** in the OFF position they should come down and turn off.

Once you turn OFF the feature, it's back to manual mode.
