like the title says,...my question is does mod create excessive stress on the trans? Would a trans. upgrade be in order? thanks in advance for any input!
From: Ok! So you don't believe in conspiracies, but will you acknowledge the possibility of there being coordinated activities in secret places? Texas
Yes it does create more stress, but so does any additional horsepower. You will, however, find members that still run stock A4s with power adders with no problems YET! On the same token, members have destroyed "built" trannys making far less power than they were built to handle. It's a crap shoot. I say, run stock while saving for built. The trans cooler is a great suggestion though. I read that every 10 degrees you drop tranny temp, effectively doubles trans life.

take it from me, My trans went 3 weeks after sc was installbut i pound em.. look up my past posts and there is a writeup on how to do one and pics.. very easy spend the money the first time so that there wont be a second time. btw summit sells the B&M hi tec cooler with builtin fan for 200 instead of 300 like other places..
Contact RPM i have a stage 6 with a converter from them and i couldnt be happier
I ran mine for 2 plus years with now problems, then i decided to really beat on it one day and well......I needed a new trans, lol!
some have failed pretty easy but if you just hammer on it hear and there for for short burst on the hwy it will probably last a little bit depending on power and grip.
i used to own a turbo gto, i know not the same but still the ls1/4l60e combo, ran an sts 60 mm turbo at 8 psi for 491.6 hp and over 500 ft/lb, on the stock tranny (wouldnt chance any higher), but i was really easy on the car and was going to build the transmission soon there after. really it will last as long as you are easy on it, once you get hard on it though it will go fast imo

Have had the S/C on for over 2 years now and no tranny problems. Have around 700 HP at the crank and Andy at A&A reprogrammed the tranny with higher pressure, quicker shifts and raised the shift points. I can't run at the drags(one run with no roll bar and off you go), but it is leaned on frequently and absolutely no problems so far. I don't expect the tranny to last forever, so if it goes I will up grade. As long as you run street tires the drive line should be OK. Slicks, not so much.
