Car is my 2002 Corvette Z06. It had 72K miles on her and I got it last July. I washed my vette Saturday and parked her in the garage. I got her out last night(Thursday) and took my cousin for a ride. I'm 2 miles from he interstate so I was going up the on ramp and I got it pretty hard in 4th gear. I got the car up to 107 mph before shifting to 5th, then slowed down to 75 mph and put her in 6th gear. Cruised for 2 miles to the next exit and got off to get some food to eat. While going through the drive through, something seemed to be slipping. This is the first manual I've owned so I'm not sure if something in the rear end or trans(clutch) is slipping. Just got new rear tires about a month ago so she's gripping like a SOB now. What do you guys think?
Car looked to be taken care of before I got her. My buddy who put new valve spring in, told me the engine looked like it had 10K miles, not 74K. How long do the stock clutches last? I'm not that tough on her but was that night. I drive the car a few times a week and do have fun driving her, but mostly city driving.
My car has 85K on it and as far as I know it's the original. I'm the second owner so I can't be 100%. My last track outing I has lauinching the car pretty hard no tire spin a little bit of bog and 1.70 60ft. I think my clutch feels pretty solid. So it could go either way I guess. I guess they could last 140K or 40K, just depends on the individual driving style.
