Default Car show vent

I was really excited because I thought I had a good chance.apparently not.i hate to be one of those people but I need to vent. I have no problem losing to people who deserve it but I feel robbed. One person who beat me had the same medium purple pearl but completely stock. Even wagon wheels! The other person was completely stock minus some stick on chrome under the hood. He had a guitar on his roof...the other person had a stock 92 vette...
Thanks for letting me vent.lol

I would say the winner deserved to win because he was chosen the winner. Perhaps there were payoffs to the judges or some vast conspiricy. I would not let this matter rest.

Was it judged or voted on by the participants?

car shows are a crap shoot. lots of times they end up being owner's popularity contest instead. I've lost to cars which were vastly inferior in design, upkeep, and modifications before. which is why I never go into a show expecting to win anything. so far I haven't been disappointed yet.

Means nothing to most people. Get over it and don't enter any more shows if you cannot handle the results.

Most of your mods simply don't show - and then, even if they did....the majority of the spectators couldn't care less.

You didn't say who judged, whether it was the participants, a club or people's choice. Apparently the other car appealed more to whomever was judging.

I went to one judged show....I worked on my car for two weeks detailing it to the Nth degree. Came the day of the show, since I was not a member of the club sponsoring and judging the show, I was told to park out in the outer fringes.

No one ever came by to even look at my car. That was the last show, and I will never participate in another one again.

It was judged by participants. Each person got a random group to judge.

Depending on the show, mods may not carry any more weight than a nicely detailed, well cared for original car. If you were in just a Corvette class (not split into modified and stock), that's just the way things go sometimes.

Sometimes you lose points for non stock items if you are in a non modified class. Every show is different, and each may have different categories. I've won 4 trophies in the five shows I entered this spring with NO club affiliation and no mods, so that's just the way it goes sometime!

Your first mistake was expecting to win. The shows around here would never of put all those cars in the same class, There is always the stock class, modified class and so on. I been to a few shows and I never felt my car was better than all the rest as you are.
I go to the shows for the conversations and get ideas and also to take pictures and have a great time, I have never won and it doesn't bother me at all.
Seeing that you are that upset I would never go to a show again, Life is too short to get so upset over something like that.

I attend shows a lot and you need to go with the outlook that it is just for fun. As already mentioned, most of you mods don't show. You have not mentioned how the show was judged. I will be attending an open car show tomorrow and the show promoter (not affiliated with any club) judges the cars. He and his crew is top notch and after the show they will go over their judging sheet for your car. Other shows (Corvette only) are judged by the club putting on the event and in my area most if not all of the clubs do not allow their members to enter. Some shows are participant judged and those are the ones that usually do not make any sense of how some cars win and others don't.
So just suck it up and move on. Either attend the shows with the idea of meeting some new people and have fun.

When I had my c3 it won more then its share of car shows, still have the trophies and plaques.

It was bone stock matching numbers, and ncrs top flight.

I primarily took it to car shows, judged,as well as participant vote, and like you, I did sometimes lose to what i thought were less "qualified" cars. Corvettes and others.

I look back now and laugh.

Now that i have my c5 coupe, which is a very well maintained driver,on a lark I took it a couple of weeks ago to a local car show, that i normally attend, which is participant voting, and entered it, not caring or even expecting to win anything, just to enjoy the show, and look at the other cars.

But it did take a trophy Who would of thought? So do not worry about winning or not, you know that you have a nice ride, enjoy it, and if and when you do take a prize all the better. Ken

The club or group with the most members there will win every time. I always go to a show never expecting to win and am always surprised if I do.
