Why doesn't somebody market a decent low profile scissors jack? You know, something you could toss in the trunk for when you wake up in the morning and have a flat tire. You get out that scissors jack and take care of business. They are standard equipment on other cars. Why can't they market one for Corvettes? OK, so you can buy a $250 hydraulic that weights 100 pounds and put THAT in your trunk. Am I missing something? Is there one available? I just saw one on Walmart that has a minimum height of 4 inches. I guess that would work if you first drove up on a couple of 2X12's. Whadda ya think gang?
Harbor Freight has one for $20 and says min is 3 3/8" - item# 66907. I'd look at it first, HF is good for some stuff, but I choose wisely when buying tools, guns and other things that my life may depend on - just passing it along

I've actually ordered the CA Car Cover jack. I should receive it next week and I will probably make a separate thread after I receive it to share my opinions...
The one from my old Pontiac G6 or my even older 87 Camaro Iroc work just fine and I have it in the rear compartment along with a portable compressor and tire repair kit. So WHAT is the problem here??????

I went to a import wrecking yard and ask the guy if he had any scissor jacks - he looked at me like I was nutz - then said follow me - he had two 55 gal drums full of them - I bought a couple of them - 10 bucks each -

I did the same thing while I was looking for a horn for my truck... they had a ton of them. Five bucks a piece...

In a recent thread on the same topic, I posted the CALIFORNIA CAR COVER COMPANY jack image above. It's expensive, but it's capable of collapsing down to 1.5" and lift 2000#.
If that's out of your budget range, find a Mazda RX7 or Porsche aluminum scissors jack. They're light weight and will collapse down to 3.5" if I remember correctly. Some have a small nub on top which may mate up to the perimeter jacking points w/ minor modification.
I got mine from EBAY about five years ago for less than $30. They're usually listed there in the range of $35-50 with the cranking handle included. They look like this...
If a tire is completely deflated you will also need a small air compressor (Z06 or SLIME) to inflate the tire to provide sufficient space for the jack.

autobarn has the hydraulic scissor jack...no cumbersome wrist work...I use 2 on my lift....it goes real low and rated at 2200 lbs...built like a brick sheethouse.
I found a 2004 Pontiac GTO jack on ebay, thanks to a tip from another of our members. It looks like it'll work well. Thanks for all of your suggestions. What a great forum !
I have used the nissan low profile jacks. It has a nut on the end of it. I hit it with the impact gun and the car is in the air in a couple of secs. It at least gets it high enough to get a proper jack under the cradle to get it up high enough for decent jack stands.
