Default Yet another radar detector thread

I tried to find an inconspicuous place for my Escort in the vert, and it's a bit too big for all the usual locations around the windshield frame. I don't want to leave it visible when I park top down.

I ended up attaching it by the side of the waterfall, just under the tonneau, and wiring the power under the center console. I use the cigarette lighter adapter for a poor man's remote user interface. I got panels covering the trunk openings under the tonneau and the detector is quite well hidden between the panel and the waterfall.

Anyone else used this location? There's a line of sight from the waterfall through the windshield and I would expect the radar detection be sensitive enough, but I haven't been able to test that in practice yet.

Do you have your escort setup to only detect Laser and KA band? I would imagine without seeing what band it is it would get frustrating having to react to all the other band.

That's right.

I was going to move the display to the dash on Saturday, but I did not have long enough flat cable. If this location seems to work out, I'll hardwire the power and solder together a proper remote user interface module.
