Default trip to carlisle

Heading to carlisle in august from upstate South Carolina. This will be my first time at carlisle and the first real road trip in the vette. About 2000 miles round trip. I don't want to find myself stranded on the side of the road somewhere. Biggest worry is a flat tire. Obviously we don't have spare tires and I don't have run flats. I do have a tire repair kit and AAA but no one wants to see there C5 being pulled up onto a tow truck. Herd to many horror stories of that. So was wondering if you guys have any advice or past experience to avoid such issues???

I carry a plug kit and a small 12V compressor in the Triumph. No spare in it.

Since a flat tire is a random occurance you just prepare for the worst ( seems you have already) and take the trip. You have the option of staying at home and NEVER having a flat tire or you take the trip that you want in your Vette and address the issues when and if they occur. Having said that I would suggest that you give yourself plenty of space between you and the car ahead of you so that you can see any trash or delaminated tires on the road way before you need to take evasive action. In any event, the important thing is to have fun! Good luck on your trip.

I made my first pilgrimage to Carlise last year and had the same fear before I left. I was was well prepared with a plug kit, compressor and my AAA card. Once I hit the road I did not think think about it again.

Have a great time and enjoy your trip. Catch up with fellow forum members while you are there. About 30 of us went to dinner too, it was a great time.

AAA will first try to plug your tire, not immediately tow or rollback it. I carry a tire repair kit and a portable compressor. I also carry a can of fix a tire to use only in an emergency as it will destroy tire pressure sensor. Ask yourself this: When is the last time your daily driver needed to have the spare tire put on it? Go to Carlisle and enjoy yourself, maybe I'll see you there. I'll be the one in a Corvette!
