I have a 1998 corvette, tank full of gas. After I have driven for about 30 miles or so, the check gauges light comes on and the gas gauge will go to empty and the low fuel message will appear. All the other gauges are working fine. I have to stop the engine and restart before the gauge will work again, any suggestions with what is happening. Thanks
This happened to me recently as well. I've read that Techron fuel system cleaner will help clear up the problem. The 2 times it has happened to me my wife filled up with Shell gas. All the other fill ups have been with Sunoco and never an issue.
Follow suggestions above on the fuel additive. Only run quality high octane fuel...and in the interim, if it happens again, you can run your error codes through the ondash computer and reset the error code without having to pull over to reycle the motor. Gauge will be returned to proper reading.

The above is solid advice. Members have reported that adding a bottle of Techron Concentrate to a tank of gas, and repeating if necessary, can help remove sulfur deposits from the sending units and restore the gas gauge to working order.
If that doesn’t work, it may be necessary to replace the sending units.

I am going to guess that the OP fixed his fuel gauge problem 8 years ago when he made this thread. The guy hasn't been back in 6 years, so he must not like us anyway.
