I just finished a 1,000 mile 3 day road trip. Talk about FUN - I haven't taken any long trips since I got my Corvette last September so this was my first one. I was completely impressed with what a great road car this is! Not only that, I had my cousin with me and a few bags of luggage in back, with the A/C cranking in the 90+ degree humid midwest weather we are having, and I STILL got 31MPG on the freeways going 75mph. No one in my family believes that. ;-)
I was curious how I'd feel about the car after spending several 7 hour days in the drivers seat...and honestly I can say I love it even more than when I started the trip. In fact, on the first day - after driving for nearly 7 hours - I was back in the car after less than a 1 hour break when my dad asked to go for a drive.
What a great car! Here's to many more miles of fun.
C5's are an excellent road trip car (for 1 or 2 people, obviously.) When you factor in the cargo carrying capacity (with the coupe) along with both the performance and gas mileage, it simply cannot be beaten! Glad you enjoyed your first road trip in your Vette!
Yep, great road cars. The wife and I did a 16.5 hr drive back from the east coast in May. No problem with the car or us seating in it for that long. Just stopped for food and gas and of course the potty breaks. We aren't spring chickens any more!!

that the C5 is a great cruising car - one that you really don't get tired in on long trips. I drove mine back from NJ when I bought it and loved every mile of the trip.

Indeed: Boise to OKC, Boise to Colo Spgs, Boise to Vegas, Colo Spgs to Iowa (twice). I enjoy every trip. And I look for any excuse to plan another one. Glad you enjoyed yours.
And this is one reason I dont understand why people dont drive their cars. I had to travel to stanton Va a couple weekends ago which is a 3 hour drive both ways and I had to take the truck because I still hadnt gotten my ball joint in yet, after the first hour or so I was tired of driving. Its just not near as much fun driving something else, plus at 85+ there is no acceleration and it sucks down the fuel.
