Default Run Flats

On the way home last night, I got the message right rear tire flat, I drove another 90 mile home. Boy I am so happy for the run flats tires, I will not change to regular tires. Damn the rough ride, has anyone else experience something like this.

My wife had a flat in her BMW and was able to drive home from downtown with her runflats.

Had the same thing happen driving home on the freeway with my original Goodyear EMT's. That's why I also went with runflats when I bought my Michelin ZP's.

No....with fix-a-flat and tire plug kits, credit cards, AAA Plus memberships and cell phones, there is no need.

When I had my last C5, I picked up three punctures in two of my tires on the way home. Drove the last 20 miles or so home with constantly falling air pressure (never did totally lose pressure) and yes, I was glad that day I had runflats. Currently am running non-runflats though - I have a small compressor and plug kit, along with a cell phone and emergency road service just in case.

It’s called peace of mind. I take scenic road trips and many times I find myself on country roads off the beaten path. I would never consider a Vette without runflats.

You here something like this and arguments for better ride with non-runflats, but it sure would be nice to have run flats when you need them. I will be needing new tires soon and still not decided which way to go.

I'm actually getting used to my run flats. Not sure what I will do when they go. But if I got a flat in one I would still most likely use my repair kit. Old school and habits are hard to break.

depends on the situation, time of day etc, I guess.

But I will most likely get run flats if the price is reasonable in my mind.

That may be true, but I guess I'm getting old. The last thing I want to do is crawl around the asphalt under my car trying to find the cause of the flat and trying to slide a plug into a thick tire. I want to avoid waiting around for a tow truck and worrying whether the car is being lifted properly onto a flatbed truck.

I do understand those that are looking to spend a bit less for tires, a quieter ride and performance, since they track their cars.

I replaced my Good-year's with a full set of Michelin's Pilot Sports PS/2 ZP and really like the run-flats technology. And having a much better handling and low noise tire. At my age I sure don't want a flat out in the woods.

Because of where I live and the kind of work that I do I get two or three flats every year! ZP is the only way for me.

Dude,
90 miles is WAY too far. The owners manual says "if you drive 50 miles or less at 55mph or less, the tire MAY be repairable". I would have this one carefully inspected, you may have ruined it.

65 years old - I have drove across the US 14 times - been in every state in the Union - Been a motor head head all my life & last year I had my "first" flat ever! 70 MPH & was riding my motorcycle comming out of Seattle - I have rode motorcycles for hundreds of thousands of miles without a spare - with that said I might have 6 flats today

Is it really that noticeable? Not questioning you, just making sure.
