Default Road trip to Bowling Green!

My wife and I are taking our Z06 from Green Bay, WI to Bowling Green next Wednesday, July 27. I'm really excited...I've been wanting to do this since I was a kid. We've only had the Z a little over 2 years, and this will be our longest trip by far in it (2000ish miles). We'll be spending Thursday and Friday in the Bowling Green area, doing both the factory and museum tours. We're staying at the Victorian House in Smiths Grove. I've heard lots of good comments on the forum about them, and when we called to reserve, she said they got tons of referrals and visitors from the forum. Since we're the only ones there those 2 days, they are letting me keep the Z in their garage both nights (and offering me their hose and h2o to wash it). Very cool. On Friday we'll be heading up to Louisville for a family wedding, and then back on Sunday. I think I have everything covered:

- AAA coverage
- Battery jump kit/cables
- Fix-a-flat goo for emergency
- Front end bra
- Mirror covers
- Extra quart of Mobil 1
- Partition and tray with cup holders
- Scan Gauge II to monitor everything + mileage (ok this was more of a toy than a necessity)
- Garmin navigation (plus phone with Google navigation)
- Hard copy of maps and destinations
- iPass so we don't have to stop at the toll stations

Am I missing anything? Oh ya, a smile and very happy right foot!

Enjoy your trip, the factory tour and museum are great. I did the trip during their 15th anniversary in 09. Had a blast. If you have time due the Bourbon trail tour, lots of fun.

If you need anything in the Bowling Green Area next week, give me a call. Our local club members would be glad to assist. Also, we are having a cruise friday afternoon in Elizabethtown, (Exit 94) and a large cruise in on Saturday. (http://cruisintheheartland.com/). Last year we had 6 of the local corvette clubs show up for the event. Our headcount last year was around 900 cars.

Oh yes, we will be doing the Bourbon tour. I'll just have a sip or 2 to taste each one. I think there are 6 stops.

Excellent! We'll probably be driving through there on Friday afternoon on our way back up to Louisville. Are there any other cool places to stop/drive through on the way? I think we'll be staying off the interestate and taking 31 north.

I've made the trip several times and its awsum! There are a few other things as well.... AAA membership (definitely mandatory), radar detector, try to get to the factory tour at least half hour early, Bob Evans makes a great breakfast, Smokey Bones has a tasty lunch as well.

Hmm... Cave City, Wigwam Vilage #2 in the Mammoth Cave area of South Central Kentucky is on the National and Kentucky Registers of Historic Places comes to mind... Watch out for the local speed traps and enjoy the ride... That will get you past the construction at Park City on I65. They are widing the bridge there, but it's not been a major slowdown in the area...
