Hey everybody new to the club, I bought a 2003 torch red z with 15000 miles abouyt 6 months ago , if you e bay alot you probably saw it out of Atlanta. Anyway it has the factory gy's on it they are hard as a rock,I slip and slide all the way through fourth. what is the best tire to replace with in you guys opinion- I drive it once a week in Alabama never in the rain I need something to grap in 1st and 2nd. thanks .
If you want to ditch the runflats, a popular choice is Hankook V12. Good tire at a good price.
Put a set on about a month ago, ~2800 miles on them so far which included an ~1800 mile trip to Myrtle Beach. On the way back from that trip included a Tail of the Dragon/Cherohala side trip. Highway, around town and hard twisties, they have run smooth, quiet and sticky when needed.

try doing a search on "tires" and you will have enough information and opinions to make your eyes bleed for years to come. since you are new here, "search" is always your best friend. there are very few things that haven't been touched on or beaten to death over the history of the corvette forum. plenty of good information and folks to share it.
BTW for what it is worth, hankook v12 is a great replacement tire if you choose to go away from run flats in my opinion.

I've had the Kuhmo Run flats and have been happy with them for about 4-5 years now, but I think I'm going with the V12s as well and take my chances without runflats for the ride. Zuti

Put a set of them on mine when I got my new wheels. Only about 300-400 miles on them, but so far they ride good and handle very well. And the price is great.
Probably not the best value, but I have been very happy with my Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS's. They grip very will in the rain and dry and at 10,000 miles appear to be a 25K tire. I will go back with them or the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP's when the time comes.

I also just bought a set of Stones - non-run flats - i put together a plug kit - 12 Volt air compressor - small jack & a small wood ramp - all fits in the center well in the trunk - I'm good until i have a flat
Just wore out my Michelin PS2's great tires... but pricey.
I wanted the Hankook V12's but they are back ordered and I could not wait any longer
I went with Continental Extreme Contact D-W.
I just recently replaced my goodyears with bfgoodrich kdw2's(non-runflat). They are 5 lbs lighter per tire and have lots of grip. Before switching I would spin shifting to second and now it just grabs(automatic trans).
I run KUHMO EXTSA ASX on my C4, my C5, my Mazda 6, & when the tires wear out on my Silverado I will get some for it.They have been the best wearing & best handeling tire I have ever used. I went through 2 sets of BFG on the C4 to still same set on C4. They are non-runflats I keep a can of flat tire juice & a plug kit in all. The tires handeling is incredible, but like any tire on a vette you can fry them at will.
