I'm about to purchase a 2001 Z06, Silver with an astonishing 11,700 miles on the clock. Owner has the window sticker, dealer records, the works.
This car is flawless. My question to the experts is what were some of the problem areas for this car and with it being 10 years old, what should I replace simply for it's age.
This is my first Vette so I don't know much about the care and feeding of them.
Would not repace anything yet, drive it see what it needs. If tires are original I would get those replaced. Bought mine new and it just turned 111K on the clock.

What he said. Also if the car runs like a scalded ape as is, don't worry about changing anything other than tires,if applicable. And since you're new to the 2001 ZO6 club, you'll probably hear certain statements favoring the 02-04 models, but make no mistake. Bone stock, in a drag race, stock to stock, at the finish line , both cars would reach the finish inside a car length of each other. And I say this from personal experience owning a 2001 ZO6 since new. Welcome.
11k on the clock and in flawless condition as far as the eye can see doesnt sound half bad. Some of the problems however with c5 hard-tops (z06's) is leaking windows in the rain. I know it doesnt sound like much but when you park your car out in bad weather and come back to a rain forest fog in your interior it kinda pisses you off. That and the notorious service steering column lock, be sure this was taken car of. Other than that get them down to a good price and enjoy.
Get rid of the OE tires...they won't hook for anything. Michelin PS2's are the best replacement for the street...but also the most expensive. Change all the fluids, coolant & T-stat, Mobil 1 in the motor, and Amsoil or RP for the trans and diff. Flush the brake fluid with a good synthetic and do the same for the clutch master...serach for the "ranger method" on flushing the clutch master. After all that, the car will truly be as good as new.
