I recently purchased a 1998 corvette, it had some nice upgrades and i got it at a really good price. I have been autox and planned on drag and big tracking the car, but now that i have it i found that the syncros r shot from 1st to 2nd and i need a rebuild.
I have talked to a couple local shops and their prices have been outrageous. One quoted me if i brought the transmission into them separate $2500, but they did say they were doing all the brass, carbon-fiber, and such upgrades and blablabla. I want to race my car and im using close to stock horsepower, i just need a tranny to do the job. Can anyone recommend a good solution? I live in sonoma county maybe a good shop, or should a buy a new transmission all together?

If your in Dallas area send me a PM.
I just had mine rebuilt with all the RPM good stuff for half the cost.
This is someone that has been rebuilding the corvette tranny's for 10+ yrs...
Corvette's/Camaro's is all he deals with for the most part.
thanks everyone for the reply's, it seems u guys all like RPM. But thats REALLY far away. Is buying a new transmission not a good idea, are the stock internals in the tranny not worth having. im not putting out massive horsepower and don't plan on it. 400 max

RPM uses much stronger hardware in the transmission. IF you go with a stock Trans then you will be back in this same situation again a few years down the road.
