well what happened to the valve spring was that it came un-sprung. i was just easing up to hiway speeds, was doing about 45-50mph, i wasnt raw hiding it, yes we have paved roads down huhr and 'lectricty too and sum houses even have running water with in door toliets. i cant believe that ya actually doo doo under the same roof that ya et ya viddles. but anyway when the spring sprung it let the valve fall into the MOTA and messed it the hell up. the valve wedged in the head vertically and number 5 piston banged on it till it punched a hole in the top of piston. now the MOTA is broke!
I run a printing press for a living, and I'm no stranger to getting my hands dirty. I think this makes me exempt from your "sophisticated snob" comment. Also, I was born in a time, and a place that your term, "yank", is irrelevant.(1953/Idaho) It would seem that some southroners are still hoping for a different result. Congratulations on pulling your engine by yourself. I recently did a clutch installation, but I don't think I'm brave enough to pull my engine singlehanded. Good luck getting it rebuilt, and back in your car.
BTW you mis-spelled "southerners"....that cant be good for the printin press bidness.
Ok guess no one knows. but thats ok i got it out. it was a SOB but i got it. if anyone eva does this and needs some pointers just holla at me.
It seems like some reluctance to use the "er" "or" "ar" spellings. Kind of like pronouncing crack *** cracka'...which this guy appears to be. I lived in New Orleans and various spots in MS, I still use the "er" "ar" "or" spellings...I don't know man.
