So I recently had the local exhaust cut out the mufflers for a better sound (awsome btw) and was wondering if this would give me any increase in rwhp. my thought process was that it was increasing flow so better performance but I dont know much yet soooo? Thanks guys!

More than likely, you will loose power and torque...loud does not mean better... loud only means something to a certain element of our community.. headers are " tuned " to control back pressure and scavenging of the exhaust pulses.. a crossover pipe helps Pull the exhaust gases from your engine...gutting the exhaust is a negative with respect to performance,.If you are looking for noise, gutting the mufflers will do that....but don't think there is any added benefit.
I *think* so. I have a cammed car with stock exhaust. I *feel* I lost HP when I switched from my SLP Loudmouth to stock exhaust. We'll see for sure when I get my DMH cutouts...

I left the stock cats and manifolds on so its really not very loud at all below 2k but if im stepping on it its about as loud as my buddys camed z with headers and stingers....it ran me 350 so not to bad.
Not sure you would gain or lose power, it's just loud. We have straight pipes on our Z (was that way when we bought it in 05) and it dyno'd at 371/360.

Evi twin is correct, gutting your exhaust probably costs you torque.
I learned this years ago drag racing my 55 chevy gasser. i had fenderwell headers and very short collectors. the car wasn't making much power on the big end. After making a pass a racer came over to me and advised me to put some tapered extensions on the headers and see how it performed. He turned out to be right as I picked up a halfe second off the E.T. I guess he knew what he was talking about.
P.S. His name was Don Garletts!

the tapered extensions caused the exhaust gas to speed up and exit faster. bournelli effect. gas slows down the farther it goes down an equal diameter tube causing the engine to work harder to push the gas out. at least if engine follows the laws of physics thats how it works anyway.
evil-twin and c5wolfe are correct, anyone thinking straight pipes on a non drag/track car is dreaming and misinformed..don't believe just ask a tuner or reputable shop...loud just makes all those who drive vettes look bad..put mufflers back on and give you neighbors a break and not annoy the police.
Thanks for the help and opinions guys! And I agree about the straight pipes being a little redneck ...not what im looking for but I only got so much coin so a mans Gota do what a mans Gota do!

Why would anyone sacrafice performance for noise???? Its like some of the new breed ricers that bought into a C5. You know the ones that only want it to lope or sound good and could care less about the performance.,.,you know a low LSA number. What has my precious C5 neighborhood turned into??? IM so sad
Geez... Just get some cut-outs. We've seen actual gains on cut-outs after the header collectors. And at least you can close them so your neighbors don't quarter you.
We don't have any loud cars in my neighborhood, thankfully. But if we did, I'm sure the neighbors here would bleach their lawn.
