I have a 2003 auto vette, with 70000 miles on it. Original owner new. I want to pre-empt a tranmission failure. I've recently bought a 2010 427R Roush and enjoy the beating I'm giving it! I'd like to enjoy the same freedom of spirited green light take offs with the vette. What should I do to the Vette transmission to keep it protected both cars are daily drivers.

If you have no power added mods the stock transmission is pretty solid. You could probably have it serviced (drop the pan, filter, change fluid) if you think it hasnt been done, but other than that, if you leave the nannies on (Active Handeling on) you should have pretty free reign with the skinny pedal.

Lean on it, you're not gonna break anything.

Thanks for your reply. My friends agree with you. I've got 1000-18 hundred bucks pointed at the tranny. I want to put headers on it already have a tiger shark cat back on it. And if I invest in the tranny I will then feel more comfortable adding a supercharger on it. What mods would I need to the tranny IOT support the headers and supercharger?

As long as the car is running OK now, just change the fluid and filter and you should be good to go.

Just ask what upgrades you should do for a given HP (people cant comment because there is probably a difference between whats needed for 400 500 600 HP).

Im not qualified (no experience in big HP mods or racing) but if I had to guess Id say the stock transmission and drive train is good to 400 and the bottom of the engine to 500, 600 ?. . . something like that.

Just read up a bit on what you want to do, ask the vendor what HP numbers to expect and then ask here what other mods may be in order.

Good luck

What are your long term plans for the car? How much power do you plan on making? Contact RPM transmissions or RKT56... Either of them will be able to set you up.
