Default 2000 C5 Windows too loose

Have a 2000 C5 Targa Top Coupe and the windows are way too loose. Is there any way to tighten these up and stop it from sounding cheap when closing the doors? I've searched the forum high and low only to find nothing. Help Greatly Appreciated!

Here is a possible solution that was posted up by a forum member about three years ago:

The problem with the window rattling when you close the door and the window was down is there is supposed to be a felt pad on the front of both pulley wheels, The reason I didn’t see it was because they were both missing. I removed the passenger door panel which wasn't rattling and lo and behold there they were. I went to Ace Hardware and bought felt pads for the bottom of furniture and stuck them on using the self-adhesive supplied and problem solved. This is a simple fix when you get the door panel off. The pulleys are right at the top of the door and can be easily seen with the window down.

When you shut the door, the window makes a terrible rattling noise. The only way to tell if this is your problem is to take the door panel off and look and see if the felt is missing if it is this is part if not all of your problem.

The felt that you need are the 1/2 round that you would use on the bottom legs of furniture not to scratch the floor. You can buy these in any Home Depot or Lowes in the hardware section. Once you remove the door panel and locate the pulley wheels you will figure it out.

This may or may not be the source of the loose window. There may also be some nuts on the window track that hold the window in place and they may be loose.

Just something to check on ... on my 2000 I had the same issue. I ended up finding that the front bottom stud that holds the window track was broken off -- only found it because my window motor burned up and had to replace the assembly. Between that and the missing felt pads (mine were gone too) the rattle was fixed. Hopefully it is just your pads!

Yeah, the only way to find out is to remove the door panel and see what's lose in there. Its not a complex task. As for the top being lose, there is an adjustment on the left and right clamps unless someone has removed parts.
