Your tire recommendations please
I have seen the myriad of posts about tires and what everyone is using but I wondered if I might toss out my criteria and see what everyone can suggest? The original Goodyears on my 04 vert are going bald after 24k miles so I see new shoes in the future probably by years end.
If you feel like tossing out your opinion, I would sincerely appreciate it. Here are my basic needs:
1. I do want to stay with EMTs (run flats). The wife and I use the car to travel so I never want to be stranded out in some remote area adventuring and get a flat and have some goober show up with a sling-back truck trying to tow it to the shop.
2. Its a vert so I want the most quiet run flats I can find.
3. Ride quality is also important so I want the smoothest run flats I can find.
4. I do not race the car or drive it very hard so cornering performance and track possibilities are not high on the "needs" list.
5. I live in Florida so things like snow and ice are not concerns.
6. Its not a daily driver so even rain driving is not much of a concern.
7. I have only put 13k miles on it in 3 years so cost is not really an option as I figure whatever I buy for it now will likely be on the car for some years to come. The original tires were pretty well worn when I bought the car as the previous owner had a lead foot for only 11k miles.
I know my list might seem restrictive but I figure I can shoot for what I want and settle on some things if need be.
Thanks for any input anyone wants to share.
Mike

The Michelins are a good tire.

I had read about 50 posts here about the 100% improvement in going with the Michelin's, so I bought four brand new Michelin Pilot Sports PS/2 @ ZP's and I swear they are in fact the singular best money I every spent. The set of 4 cost about what the cost of buying 2 Good-years, trade-off = Nothing. Tires are quite, smooth riding, handle light years better than the GY and I installed four new tire pressure sensors while we were doing the work, once hi-speed balanced, it's a different world. They are very quite, stick like glue and since they are ZP's I still have the ability of handling a flat without requiring a flat bed tow. I had County Corvette Inc. do the work and it was a night/Day experience. Sold the four GY here in one day for a $100.00

I installed the Michelin Pilot Sport2 A/S ZP's last year and night and day difference from the GY EMT's. We get some light snow and occasional ice so the A/S come in handy. In your case, the A/S's or the Pilot Sport2 would be an excellent replacement if your looking for EMT tires.

I know this was an old thread but I wanted to share a followup.
I installed the Michelins like everyone suggested and WOW...what a difference! I just put them on this past weekend and you guys were right. They ride alot better and don't make near as much noise as the Goodyears. Haven't even driven it all that hard yet to see the handling aspects.
Only two real drawbacks.
1. The guy at the shop got the front rims reversed even though I labeled them when I took them to him so I had to reset the TPS. No big deal, used the magnetic parts tray trick.
and 2. Now the interior is so quiet, I noticed I have some wind noise from the drivers window. Honestly, it was so loud before I couldn't even hear it!
Thanks for your recommendations as the new shoes have already met all of my requirements. Just took me a while to get them purchased and put on!

+ one moreNight and day difference for me after replacing my GY runflats with the Michelin Pilot Sport ZPs
