Default I Am Back!

After a one year Corvette hiatus, I return...:seeya

Sold my 2000 C5 last year, now I am getting ready to purchase a new '02 Z06. I am excited to say the least. Two simple questions to help me get up to speed (pun intended :D)

1. Is the '02 afflicted by the same dreaded steering column lock problems that the '00 had?
2. Where can you purchase the small rollerskate-type wheels that are installed up under the front facia to avaoid scrapping the two black metal bars that run underneath?
3. What driving differences will there be between my '00 coupe and an '02 Z?
4. I am thinking about the red/black color combo - any comments on these colors?

Its good to be back and thanks for making this a great forum

I'm not sure, but I haven't heard many problems with that here. Hopefully they fixed that by now.

2. Where can you purchase the small rollerskate-type wheels that are installed up under the front facia to avaoid scrapping the two black metal bars that run underneath?
Haven't heard of those.

3. What driving differences will there be between my '00 coupe and an '02 Z?
More powerful, better handling, better brakes, stiffer suspension, lighter. Much louder exhaust note with popping/backfiring on deceleration. Just meaner and more brutal overall.

4. I am thinking about the red/black color combo - any comments on these colors?
Are you talking about the "Modified Red" interior combo? It's purely subjective depending on your taste. I looked at purchasing one, but didn't like it. The car I was looking at was black exterior, mod red interior. I think it looks best on the red exterior cars, but that's just me. I went with regular black interior on my Electron Blue and I'm happy with it. There's enough red on the Z06 logos stitched into the seats. :)

GM, good to see your back!!!!! You will not believe the difference between your 2000 and your Z06, you will love it. I have not heard of any 02' CL's, I am sure there are some. I have the two tone interior, it took a few days to get used to it, but I would not get anything else.

Hello!

1. Is the '02 afflicted by the same dreaded steering column lock problems that the '00 had?.
That problem has been fixed. No worries!

2. Where can you purchase the small rollerskate-type wheels that are installed up under the front facia to avaoid scrapping the two black metal bars that run underneath?

I'd also recommend the rocker rails - especially if you plan on lowering your Z06 a little. (Which comes awfully high from the factory - mainly to keep it from getting scraped up going on and off the car transporter rigs. The Z06 owner's video even talks about lowering your Z06 a bit.) Anyway, click on A&A's rocker rail item and you'll notice that they sell a "combo" package with the frame saver wheels at a nice price. I have them both on my car - cheap insurance. Highly recommended!

3. What driving differences will there be between my '00 coupe and an '02 Z?
Once she's broken in, the Z06 will cause a permanent grin to be etched into your face. People will stare at you strangely in stores and ask, "What's so funny?" Small children will point and ask their parents, "Why is that man so happy Mommy?" Behind the wheel, you will find yourself cackling with glee every time you go WOT. Anyone riding with you will think you've gone insane as they desperately try to hold on to something and proceed to stain their underwear. Your grin will become even wider EVERY time you pull up first at a red light... You'll go driving around and find yourself actually slowing down when approaching green lights in the hopes that they'll turn red on you. Many years down the road when you finally pass on and leave this earth, your friends will gather around and peer down into your casket and comment, "Dang! He sure does look happy!"
Hmmm, that about sums it up.

4. I am thinking about the red/black color combo - any comments on these colors?
If you are refering to the mod red interior option, I personally like it. It's a bit much at first, but it really grows on you. I think it goes best with either a black or torch red vette though. Looks nice on some of the others as well, but not as great a match. If you are a bit more conservative, a black interior is always a safe bet. As for car color, that's really a personal preference/choice - everyone has their favorite. Mine's Torch Red of course. :)

Its good to be back and thanks for making this a great forum
