I just bought a 2003 Anniversary Red convertible. Can I use a power washer on it without damaging the top or paint? What type of washing soap is recommended?
no please don't the paint will melt if you touch any kind of high pressure water to it..lol...you will be fine...any auto soap will do just fine...just use a light fan blade spray at a safe distance enough to get the soap off the car...
Stay away from the roof and unless it is really dirty just vacuum it for best results or wash with just a garden hose and never store damp leave it up till dry. I think pressure washers are for your driveway personally, a nice sheepskin wash glove and some car shampoo is best.

And some super absorbant microfiber drying towels.
There really is no reason to even use a pressure washer to wash your corvette unless you are going mudding or rock crawling
But seriously, taking out all that equiptment to wash your vette is just more work than you need and having the pressure advantage really won't get you any further than a hose, bucket, and microfiber sponge.
I have a convertible and occassionally when I'm lazy I will power wash it. I keep the nozzle about 2 1/2 feet away and don't directly spray the top or where it seals to the body. And don't directly spray any window seals. You'll know if you have any leaks or don't do the wash right by the water in your car.
I don't use a spray nozzle at home, just the hose and let "sheet" rinse....it's what the detailing experts claim is best. Out on the road? Sure, it won't hurt it, just follow the advice already given about getting too close and staying away from top/window seals.
My opinion, I wouldn't use a pressure washer on my vette, as one of the member stated, hose flowing water is best. Any high pressure with hard water over a period of time may damage or pit the paint if to close or pressure is to high. I have used a 1300 pressure washer on my Ram 1500 after a mud ride or skiing trip but I use a fan tip and never closer than 2 feet from paint. Also don't take vette to gas station car wash, your just rubbing other cars dirt into your paint job... But that is just my opinion. Good luck, enjoy the ride.
