There are several reasons for getting wheel hop.
Too much throttle, without letting up on it in lower gears.
Old rear rubber , worn/broken shocks,springs or
Too much throttle in wet pavement.
Wheel hop can do numerous damage to numerous driveline parts.
Cracked trananmission cases, main shafts. Cracked differential cases,
leaky axle seals, broken output shafts, ring & pinion gears.
Short story is... Wheel hop will kill your drive train,
which equals =BIG $$$
Main thing is to be able to be aware of the causes of wheel hop & be ready to get your "lead foot" off the throttle at the first sign of getting wheel hop.
The purchase & installation of a trans/diff strut brace will more than likely help the total distruction to the trans/diff cases. May help from breaking the shafts of the trans & diff too.
ECS (East Coast Supercharging), provides a nice, clean brace That braces the trans & differencial together, to help break some of the shock & twisting of these two units, at reasonale pricing...approx
$400. = Drive train Insurance.
Good luck.
I'm currently having the same issue, I'm on old rubber so that could be it, also stock height which is making it worse, I am seriously worried about breaking the drivetrain. Today I'm going to lower tire pressure see if it helps(25psi, maybe 20 later), tomorrow going to lower the car it see if that helps. New rubber coming in 3 weeks, so hopefully that will be the end of it. My car is an 04 so it has the better shocks.
Also I have a question about the diff brace. Are you able to install it without having to drop down the whole rear suspension, removing torque tube, etc. If so I will buy it very soon, if not then I will have to wait.

Lowering the car will make it worse. Higher cg gives better weight transfer and more bite and less hop. After lowering my car was worse.
Shocks have a lot to do with wheel hop, and it can be a function of the balance between the rebound damping front and compression damping in the rear shocks. For instance, less rebound damping in the front shocks (as they wear) results in less rear weight transfer and more tendency to hop.

I've heard just the exact opposite from various thread on this forum and others, but I'm hoping lowering tire pressure will fix the problem. The car wheel hops pretty bad and this is on the street. I will keep everyone updated. I still would like more info on the brace installation.

What did you have done to your c5 with 500whp to not have wheel hop? Wheel hop should get worse the more power the car is making. You're just driving a stock c5 z06 now, correct? That should put you around 360whp, should be much more managable than your old 500whp c5 that had no wheel hop problems.
Lowering the car will increase wheelhop by decreasing the weight transfer as mentioned earlier.
I must be lucky. I am slammed on longer bolts, use stock shocks, no brace, run 20" Pirellis, and make 450+rwhp. No wheel hop yet. Those rubberband Pirellis just go "screeeeeeech" through first and second. That being said, I am adding coilovers and a trans brace over the winter...

Yea I haven't lowered the car yet but decreasing tire pressure hasnt helped me out really, but running the car tuesday night I saw that after a few runs and more heat in the tires, the car stopped hoping as much. My tires are crap though so that should take car of the problem. Its still very frustrating though.
