Default lighter than z06 wheels

IM interesred in getting wheels in the same size as oem zo6 wheels for looks and to drop rotating mass . I just cant see spending a good chunk of change on wheels that are heavier but might look a little better. I see companies advertise light weight but there all heavier than stock.. maybe i havent looked hard enough or maybe someone can tell me what is the reason why there is not a aftermarket wheel that is lighter than stock?

Strength. Aftermarket light weight wheels still have to be strong enough to withstand the riggors of track days, so it's tough to engineer much weight out and still have the durability.

CCW Corsairs are probably among the lightes of the strong wheels out there, but I doubt even they are much lighter than stock.

Carbon Fiber....

I know you want Z06 sizes, but the stock Magnesium C5 wheels are lighter and I have seen full sets of four in great shape for $600 on the forum.

I remember reading about COR wheels on a BMW forum fairly recently. I think they have a line of wheels that are extremely light. Something like 20lbs on a 20X10 or 20X11 wheel... Might check them out...

Z06 weights for reference:

01 ZO6 17x 9.5 19.6 lbs.
02 Z06 17x 9.5 19.2 lbs.
01 ZO6 18x10.5 21.4 lbs.
02 Z06 18x10.5 21.0 lbs.

Wow... those are lighter than I thought they were...

There are the LG world challenge wheels at a decent price but they are 18" front and rear.

Are you wanting to find wheels that are lighter than the stock Z06 wheels for racing, or just simply to reduce teh rotating mass? For everyday street use I don't think it will be noticable if you shave a few punds off the wheels.

i cannot see spending 2-3k on wheels that look better but do not have any weight loss benefits....

i track the car and take it on the streets. i am sure i wouldnt notice a few pounds or rotational mass but a few each wheel can be 12 pounds of rotational mass witch is like dropping 70 lbs out of the car.. if i spend2-3k in wheels ima loose the weight

Are the Dymag carbon fiber wheels out of production? It's been a while since I've seen a set, but I know they were available for the C5 at one time.

8-10 lbs per wheel if I remember correctly.

Dymag went out, and that's who made HRE's CF wheels. Now dymag is back but seems like they're stickin with just bike wheels according to their website.

I wish maybe like 4k for wheels ...if only
