Default Gage issues

Help!!! I recently bought a 98 vert. and this last weekend I took it for the longest drive since I bought it. About 45 min. into the drive my fuel gage dropped to zero. I had plenty of gas. When I stopped for a while, it reset and I went on. On my way home, again after about 40 to 45 min. of driving, it dropped to zero again. An additional problem cropped up today, after changing all the spark plugs, I started it up, and everything was fine, then my temp. gage maxxed out, and the car wasn't even warm yet. I turned it off and restarted it and it maxxed out again. What could those problems be? Any serious help would be appreciated.
Thanks
SS

In addition to the previous post stick with Top Tier gasolines. Chevron (maker of Techron) is my gas of choice. Sometime even Chevron has a higher sulfer content than what is good got the sensors. Depends where the oil come from. Also try not to let the vette sit too long with the tank near empty.

In C5 you'll find this subject to be one of the most posted about.

If you changed the plugs then you may well have damaged the wire that goes to the temp sensor or knocked it off the sensor. It's located on the drivers side just above the front most plug.
Good advice and hope the Techron solves the gas gauge problem.
