who does vinyl wrap? obviously i will completely tape the seals and cracks off... shouldnt be much of an issue to remove, right? really just going for the "wtf" factor People talk all the time about Plasti dipping various parts of the car... figured i would just see what happens in i do the whole car. think of the money id save on washing it
heres a lil video of a vinyl wrapped matte black c6... my buddy does this on motorcycles and it comes out excellent. im going to be doing my gixxer 1k soon. looks better than plasti dip i think...
What is plasti-dipping for those of us who have never heard of this
Its spray paint (well technically you can buy it in a can too but that's not what he's talking about) that you can spray onto your car and when it drys it like a plastic type substance. You can at your discretion peel it off and it leaves no residue or damage. A lot of discussion has been had about plasti-dipping the lower rear fascia of the Zs to mimic the C6s and some of them look damn good. Plus its a hell of a lot cheaper than getting it professionally done or buying one of those stick on ABS jobbies from a vendor.
Yeah, plasti dip is a rubberized coating. Think of your hand tools, most have an insulated rubberized handle. Same stuff.
I plasti dipped the wheels on my Jeep and it came out great. 1 year later, several high pressure power washes and a harsh winter and no issues. I do know one guy who plasti dipped his hood, roof and hatch on this SUV. Came out decent.
I'd say give it a go, what do you have to loose? Peels off like a banana peel if you grab an edge and arent happy with the results. I'd start with the trunk lid. Small panel and easy to paint. If you like it, move on to the rest of the car.
Thinking of plasti-dipping my whole car. Thoughts?
(flame suit on)
dude i thought you was joking when you told me that yesterday. but i'm gonna pick some cans up this week to do the front wheels while they are off the car.
you know what now that i think about it, i'm gonna do the plastic skirting on the Avalanche.
